Where RAF comes from
Fujifilm has written RAF since its late-1990s FinePix cameras, whose SuperCCD sensors used octagonal photodiodes rotated 45 degrees. The 2012 X-Pro1 introduced the X-Trans sensor with its 6x6 pseudo-random filter pattern designed to suppress moire without an optical low-pass filter, and X-Trans remains the signature of the X-series today, while GFX medium-format bodies use conventional Bayer.
